We've all seen footballers running on to the field for a big match, heavily taped or strapped on their thighs or shoulders, to support torn or injured muscles.
Rock Taping, however, is something quite different, even though it looks the same.
When applied correctly, Rock Tape's unique elasticity causes the skin to form convolutions and wrinkle. This takes pressure off the tissue immediately below the skin and improves blood and lymphatic flow, improves the slide and glide between tissue layers and alters the perception of pain. It also stimulates the brain's messaging to this site (proprioception).
It can result in less pain, swelling and tightness.
Just as it works for humans, it can be used on canines and small animals, for the same results. Placing the tape over the fur, can have the same effect by gently lifting on the hair, and still releasing tension under the skin's top layer. In some really hairy dogs, it may be necessary to remove a little of the fur first.
